  • NZ INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL 2023

Saturdays 13 and 20 May, 10pm at Te Auaha

    Director's Note

Director's notes aren't usual for this festival but hey, why not :) We've had so much fun performing this show at Fringe and then at Autumn Laughs with Wellington Comedy, and it is genuinely a thrill to bring it to the NZ International Comedy Festival. We are forever grateful to the Perth and Melbourne iterations for their blessing to perform this show and add our own kiwi flavour. We hope our brand of joyful, silly improv brings you laughs aplenty. Thanks for coming!

  • nz fringe 2023

17, 18 Feb and 10, 11 March, 8:30pm at BATS Theatre, part of Fringe Festival 2023

    Director's Note

Ten years ago I saw The Big HOO-HAA! in Melbourne. Seven years ago I sat down for brunch with Libby Klysz in Perth and asked heaps of questions. One year ago I zoomed with Sam Longley and got permission. Six months ago I gathered a collection of improvisors that inspire and delight me and starting making plans. Three months ago tickets went on sale. And now... we are here.

The Big HOO-HAA! is joyful, silly, challenging, and fun; not only for our audience who get taken on a ride from hilarious happy-failure games through to more complex mid-form story telling, but also for our players who get to stretch themselves as performers, MCs, operators, and musicians. I am so thrilled to bring this dynamic powerhouse of a show to Aotearoa's shores.

Amidst the disaster and stress of our 'new normal' (we launch during NZ's third ever National State of Emergency) sometimes we just need some lighthearted escapism, to refresh and refill ourselves with laughter and joy and nonsense before we get back into the mahi. The Big HOO-HAA! is here for you in those moments. Stay safe, stay silly, do what you can to help others and yourselves, and thank you for coming to our show.
